This year’s World Water Day, celebrated today, Tuesday March 22, turns a spotlight on groundwater, providing some visibility into a crucial resource we don’t typically see. Unlike with some of our more visceral reminders of climate change – smog, forest fires, sea-level rise – the scarcity of safe, clean groundwater in some parts of the world is not a problem that calls attention to itself. But it is a global crisis regardless.
The message of this year’s World Water Day resonates with us at Conservation Labs, because it aligns so closely to our founding vision as a company. From day one, we’ve been in the business of bringing visibility to water usage and providing a means to conserve water on a day-to-day basis.
But we don’t just believe in the importance of conserving water, we also recognize the tremendous importance of better distributing resources to areas where clean drinking water is scarce, and the hard work that humanitarian organizations do to drive change. That’s why we’ve become an ambassador for the important work that the Made Blue Foundation is doing to bring clean drinking water to parts of the world where water scarcity is a major issue.
Since 2020, we’ve donated enough to the Made Blue Foundation to make available more than 4.5 million liters of drinking water – enough to last a year for 62 people.
Conservation Labs is proud and honored to do our part to address water scarcity and to conserve water worldwide. We’re grateful for organizations like Made Blue and reminders like World Water Day that keep us focused on the values and aims that inspired us to build our water monitoring technology. And on this World Water Day, we hope that the mission to address water scarcity and to make better use of our resources inspires a few more organizations to look into smart water monitoring as one straightforward way to make a difference.
